Things I learnt over the last weekend

-Spanish men have the potential to be rude when they are drunk.
-You can trip and fall and have a nose bleed, all within the confines of a tiny studio apartment.
-Liz Lemon is right. Always right. About everything.
-I am not good at consoling people. I never have the right things to say.
-You can learn a lot about the world when out grocery shopping. I met an old man who said something really poetic and beautiful "paidal chalte chalte duniya dekhne ko milti hai" (You get to see so many things in the world just by being out for a casual stroll). I also overheard the conversation of this guy who is extremely poor, has two wives and one child. One wife is in his village. And one stays with him in Mumbai. Also, my vegetable grocer, this really cute little woman, is also from Delhi (my hometown). Yup. Learnt all this from one veggie shopping trip.
-"Home" is just a concept and is pretty overrated.
-Right now, you can get a pack of Oreo biscuits free with a pack of Tang.
-If there is a bandaid on your nose, most people on the streets look at you in a highly strange way. Probably, some of the creative ones also come up with some possible wacky stories in their heads.

Weekend!

May be I am stating the most obvious but life is as interesting and boring as one wants it to be at any given time.

Since a really long time I have been thinking about writing something for my blog apart from the poems that is. Initially the plan was to write a satire on ‘Mumbai Cab Drivers’ but after losing the entire draft due to the death of my original C drive, I lost the drive and enthusiasm to rewrite it. Anyways, since I had not done anything inspiring or extraordinary in my life since last few weeks, there was nothing that I could come up with.

Anyways, after being depressed, disillusioned, de-motivated and blah blah blah since last few days, I decided to just take off to my best friend’s place towards the weekend (on Thursday to be precise). And it worked like magic. There were two unique experiences that I had during this stay which symbolically and literally made me realise a lot of things.

Well, to begin with I don’t know how to swim. But I “landed” myself into a pool on Thursday evening for two hours. The whole experience of two hours (walking and almost drowning) in the water was absolutely enchanting. I love water (I know it is high time I learn swimming!). It just made me traverse into an altogether new world!

The second experience was the dance classes that I joined today. After my almost banal existence of four years in Mumbai, I finally moved my ass (pun intended) to do something interesting and fun. When I was a kid, I would always fight with my dad because he used to take us only on imaginary holidays. He used to make full fledged plans, get us excited and then ultimately spend the entire holidays lazing around at home. Somewhere, quite conveniently, I have inculcated his terrible habit. I plan for really interesting things in life. If I ever write down the things that I have wanted to do in life and never done anything about them except in my imagination, it would reach the sky! Anyways, this experience was fabulous. Even though I can’t dance to save my life but just the music, the exercise, the new atmosphere, new people were more than enough to lift my spirits.

PS: Also saw Wolverine over the weekend. Have to say that I ain’t much impressed. The climax was super pathetic with all its clichés and not much action. Hugh Jackman was just alright! No big deal.

Last few weeks had been pretty wierd and interesting and slightly unusual...Lots has been happening around...Professional, personal and some amazing discoveries about myself....One such "great discovery" is that sometimes it’s so refreshing and interesting to hang out with complete strangers...I used to do this kinda "reckless adventure" when I was in XIC (Xavier Institute of Communication)....And I used to always have a blast...Sometimes it’s nice to not know most of the people around u and most importantly, when its not required to "know" them...Cuz all of u are there for the common purpose to completely chill out....its kinda amazin....Had almost stopped doin these fun things since the time i started working....Would try and avoid any such plans with friends (who eventually stopped invitin me for such hangout things)...But just recently realised from the many things that had gone missing from my life, this was one of them...
So here came a friend (an angel in disguise: she always cheers me up) who just called up one day and said "We are going to Daman this weekend ..Do u wana join in?" I said "Yes, count me in"...That’s the only conversation we had...I had no idea who this we constituted of; apart from her...I was slightly jittery at the night before the trip but decided to go ahead....Though the place turned out to be quite drab (On the sidelines: Its a great place for alcoholics: The booze is reallllyyyy cheap....a breezer cost Rs 35!!!! a beer pint: Rs 40;n similar interesting prices for the hard drinks also BUT the beaches are fake and there is one beautiful church which is forver shut!!!)....but I realised that I could just hang out randomly....n I really enjoy doing that....Especially with people who I know won’t be judging me...even if they were, I would give a damn because most of them are random people ...so basically, my point is now m trying to get back to my usual reckless-super impulsive self.... and it def feels lot better and good:)
